It is great that we are still finding new superfoods as we explore different cultures.  That makes eating well easier and more interesting – what is life if you are eating kale every day??

This brings us to the new superfood that is more nutritionally dense than matcha, spinach, or kale…Moringa!

What is Moringa?

Moringa is a plant grown in Africa and Asia that has been shown to help prevent and treat diabetes, inflammation, liver disease, and high blood pressure.  It is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.  Basically it is nature’s multi-vitamin and a great source of caffeine-free energy!

If you’ve seen it, it was most likely in tea form, but there are many more delicious ways to eat it!  (Like baked into brownies.)  In terms of taste, it’s similar to matcha, but it is delicious in tons of recipes (see below for delicious things like moringa mac and cheese!)

What are the benefits of adding Moringa to my diet?

It provides a bunch of impressive nutritional benefits, most notably protein, vitamin C, calcium, vitamin A and beta carotene, iron, and potassium.  And yes, lots of things have these nutrients, but not in this dense of a quantity:

1.       Protein:  30% of its weight is from amino acids!

2.       Vitamin C:  more than oranges.

3.       Calcium:  more than dairy.

4.       Vitamin A & beta carotene:  more than carrots.

5.       Iron:  more than spinach.

6.       Potassium:  more than bananas.

Additionally, it provides these unexpected benefits:

1.       Healthier hair.

The B vitamins, vitamin E, and sulfur all promote hair growth and improved blood flow to the scalp.

2.       Hormone regulation.

Furthermore, it can help reduce cramps and diminish PMS symptoms (the B12 has a calming effect).

3.       Improved gut health.

The fiber and phytochemicals in Moringa boosts the growth of good bacteria and deters bad bacteria.

4.       Strengthened bones and teeth.

Credit the iron and calcium for this one.

5.       Decreased sugar cravings.

One of the amino acids in moringa helps curb your sweet tooth.

How do I get it?

There are many (delicious) ways to incorporate Moringa into your diet!  As I already mentioned, tea is one option.  However, I love Kuli Kuli Foods because they offer a variety of ways to get the plant, even including some recipes to show how you can cook with it on their website.

Specifically, here are some of the goodies they offer that are loaded with Moringa:

Superfood Energy Bars

1. Energy Bars.

I love the convenience of bars for my gym bag, desk drawer, or carryon.  These are delicious in either dark chocolate or black cherry.

2.       Smoothie mixes.

This comes in several flavors – dark chocolate, vanilla, and chocolate peanut butter - each with 4 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein.

 3.       Bark.

Yes, this is candy with health benefits.  Sea salt peanut butter is my new craving satisfier.  Also available in raspberry chia and mint chip!

4.       Gummies.

My favorite thing about taking melatonin is that it is in a gummie form.  Any reason to add more gummies to my day is a good one.  Plus there are different varieties with additional superfoods in them, like turmeric, super greens, or chaga mushroom!

5.       Powder.

Dark Chocolate SuperBark

This is the most basic form, and the most versatile.  If you want to try cooking with Moringa, this is the way to go.  And why should you cook with it?  Well, these people came up with some doozies for recipes, including GRILLED CHEESE, GUACAMOLE, MAC & CHEESE, AND PEPPERMINT FUDGE!

With all these benefits and a bunch of convenient and delicious ways to add Moringa into your diet, now is the perfect time to give it a try!  With Kuli Kuli Foods, you get 15% off your first order and 30 day money back guarantee if for some reason you don’t like what you got. NEW SuperGummies

These treats are great to keep in your desk drawer when a sugar craving hits or in your purse when you need a boost of energy when you’re stuck in traffic on your way home for dinner.  I always like snacks that have a health benefit and don’t just lessen my hanger.
